I was not reading this book to receive the author's opinio There is a lot of very good information presented in this book that is applicable to early childhood classrooms and into early elementary grades.

I was not reading this book to receive the author's opinions on the subject of Early Childhood Education, but rather to gain information and insight to the dynamics and ever changing structure of the profession.

If I had wanted to read how an author felt about Montessori schools, I would have found an opinion piece on the subject. While I know bias and opinions cannot be totally erased, I would prefer the tone of my textbooks to be without personal opinions clearly stated. Once again, I could not find my exact edition, as it was put out by my college to make a quick buck, so I've chosen what seems to be a comparable edition.

This book is meant to education blossoming early childhood education professionals about current issues and some back history of the early childhood educational field and what it means to be a part of the field.

The inside cover has a helpful chart referring readers to which NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation Programs Once again, I could not find my exact edition, as it was put out by my college to make a quick buck, so I've chosen what seems to be a comparable edition. Some of the information, such as how to perform assessments, was very helpful, but I feel they could have been explained more thoroughly.

There is regular emphasis on dealing with children who may need differentiated instruction, such as those with disabilities or language issues. This is the book I use for the course I am teaching. I don't think you can get a more up-to-date text than this. It is the writing style that sets this text apart from the others in a positive way.

There is an amazing amount of detail here. The text does weave together Early Childhood Education and Foundations effectively.

The supplemental materials add even greater strength. This is very comprehensive. A variety of assessment items, supported by video, research articles, and other content from MyEducationLab, provide practice opportunities and scaffold learning. Includes pre- and posttest multiple-choice items and essay-format Building Teaching Skills and Homework and Exercises.
